The Smiling Gecko Campus
150 HECTARES OF THE FUTURE FOR CAMBODIA
The Smiling Gecko Campus, founded in 2014, is located approximately 60 kilometers north-east of the capital Phnom Penh in the Kampong Chhnang province. Around 30,000 people live in the immediate vicinity of the campus, most of whom are supported or sponsored by Smiling Gecko.
Starting with just nine hectares, the site has now grown to 150 hectares. A necessary expansion, because the activities of Smiling Gecko have become more diverse over the years.
Here, children receive schooling according to international standards and young adults receive professional training. There is a wonderful hotel resort, the fields and farms as well as various craft workshops which produce high-quality food and craft products that are used directly or marketed outside of the Smiling Gecko campus.
Our goal: The development of a blueprint for a functioning rural community that can also be established elsewhere in Cambodia.
